Tripoli-Colorado Has Vendors!

A number of local vendors come out to Tripoli-Colorado launches. Please be sure to drop by and visit them when you're at a launch, and let them know how much we appreciate their support. And be sure to buy lots of stuff from them, too!

Moto-Joe

We are pleased that one or more representatives of Moto-Joe often attend launches at Hartsel.  Moto-Joe sells reloads and hardware for many AeroTech and CTI motors, plus igniters and related launch supplies. Check their website to find out what's available.  If you need something specific, please make arrangements in advance, as what portion of their current stock gets brought to any given launch varies.

Giant Leap Rocketry

Altus Metrum

Altus Metrum is a leading manufacturer of flight computers and other electronics used in the rocketry hobby, including GPS and radio telemetry. All are completely open hardware and open source designs. The first-ever flight of a prototype of Altus Metrum's first product TeleMetrum happened at a Tripoli Colorado launch, and Bdale Garbee and his son Robert have a history of test flying new designs with us. Bdale doesn't bring inventory to our launches to sell, but can often be found flying and talking about what he and his business partner Keith Packard are working on next.  However, if you purchase something from his store at shop.gag.com, he is often willing to deliver orders in-person at launches he plans to attend in Colorado to save you a few dollars on shipping.

Update 9/1/2026

The fire ban has finally been lifted and we are go for a launch on 9/19 unless conditions change. I will make a final decision on 9/17. As always, please check the website for the latest information before heading to Hartsel. Finally, there is no camping on-site and vehicles must remain on established roads.

This has not been a great year for rockets and a lot of us have had to find some other venues to fill our rockerty void. I wanted to share an email from a young rockteer and his mom that I think you will enjoy reading and will want to visit the website that they shared.

"Hi,

I hope the day is going great! I just wanted to get in touch with the Tripoli-Colorado team on behalf of my son, Aidan, because you've been such an awesome help with his Space Exploration merit badge for Scouting America. One of the requirements he needs to complete is to build, launch, and recover a model rocket, which he's very excited about! While researching the hobby and how to get started, we came across your club's links page, www.tripolicolorado.org/links/links.html and we really appreciated all the helpful information it shared. Thank you so much!

Aidan also had the wonderful idea of passing along another resource he thought was useful. It's www.elevators.com/lift-off-model-rocket-maintenance-and-technology/ and it covers everything from the history and safety of model rockets to construction, the science behind them, and some fun facts.

He thought it could be a nice addition to your page, especially for people who are just getting started with model rockets. If you end up using it, I'd love to be able to tell Aidan! I know he'd get a kick out of seeing something he found actually make it onto the site to help other beginners out. And I'm sure he'd be pretty happy to show his merit badge counselor too!

Please let us know what you think if you have the time!

All the best and enjoy the rest of your day,
Aidan and Alice Schorr
